Was Member of Indian legislative Assembly from 1929-1943 ; Constituent assembly, 1948-1949 ; First Round Table Conference, 1929; went to Geneva in 1937, as employer's delegate to the International Labour Conference ; Member for Supply, Viceroy's Executive Council, 1941-43 ; appointed Governor of Bombay in September, 1947 ; Governor of Uttar Pradesh from 1949 to 1952. Past Presidentor Chairman : Bombay Municipal Corporation: Associated Cement Companys Limited; Tata Group of Hydro-Electric Companys; Royal Western Indian Turf Club ; Indian Merchant Chamber ; Indian Banks Association ; Indian Institute of Art-in Industry ; Employer's Federation of India; Sir Dorabh Tata Trust ; Indian Hotel's Company Limited.
